Pharmacokinetics

Pharmacokinetics (PK) is the quantitative study of how the body handles drugs over time—encompassing absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion (ADME) and the relationships among drug dose, systemic exposure, and time. At Apex Pharmacology Institute (API), our expertise spans foundational through advanced pharmacokinetics, including bioavailability and bioequivalence, clearance, volume of distribution, half-life, steady state, multiple dosing, compartmental and noncompartmental analysis, population pharmacokinetics, clinical pharmacokinetics, therapeutic drug monitoring, dose adjustment, exposure–response relationships, and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling. We emphasize both conceptual understanding and the quantitative skills required to interpret concentration–time data and translate pharmacokinetic information into meaningful dosing decisions.

Training can range from introductory PK for students and beginning learners to advanced applications involving PK data analysis, PK/PD modeling and simulation, population PK, interspecies and allometric scaling, first-in-human dose estimation, dose and exposure prediction, clinical trial dose selection, special-population dosing, and model-informed drug development. Learners can also receive hands-on training in the use and interpretation of industry-relevant pharmacokinetic and modeling software, integrating real or simulated datasets with practical exercises to develop skills applicable to preclinical development, clinical development, regulatory science, and patient care.
